Physician graduated from the Universidad del Rosario (1980), with specialization in General Surgery from the Universidad del Rosario (1985) and Cum Laude Degree of the Master in Education from the Universidad de Los Andes (2007). General Surgeon at the Kennedy Hospital until 2009 and at the Hospital Universitario Mayor-Méderi from 2009 to present. Professor of the medicine program at the Universidad del Rosario for more than 30 years and Full Professor since 2009. He held the position of Academic Vice-Dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University between 2018 and 2020. Decorated as Distinguished Professor of the University in 2004; Honorary Peer Tutor in 2007; Teaching Excellence Award 'Juan Agustín Uricoechea y Navarro' in May 2013; recognized by students as ' Méderi´s Best Teacher of Medicine ' on several occasions, and Finalist of the Teaching Excellence Career Award of the Universidad del Rosario in 2020. Co-creator of the Peer Tutor Program of the medicine program at Universidad del Rosario in 2003, and actively participated in the implementation of the curricular reform of the medicine program (2013). He performs his teaching activities in fields related to general surgery and medical education in the undergraduate program of medicine and at postgraduate level in the specialization of General Surgery and in the Master in Education for Health Professionals (joint program with the Javeriana University). As a researcher, he belongs to the groups of Clinical Research and Research in Medical Education and Health Sciences of the Universidad del Rosario, and was leader of the latter group for several years. He has publications of various kinds in different journals and books of national and international level around these fields and was recognized as a Senior Researcher by Colciencias. At present (2021), his subjects of greatest interest in the field of surgical research and practice are related to pathology and tumors of the upper gastrointestinal tract, in addition to the various aspects of medical education.
