The most important trends in basic research on the psychology of learning and their impact, are presented and analyzed, based on the scientific papers published in the main Spanish-language psychological journals: Revista Latinoamericana de Psicología (RLP), Psicothema (PT), Revista Mexicana de Psicología (RMP), and Revista Interamericana de Psicología (RIP) . The first three journals are "indexed" by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), and the fourth journal was "indexed" until few years ago. The percentage of basic research on learning published in each of the journals is: RLP (40%), PT (38.3%), RIP (15%) and RMP (6.7%). The most productive countries are Spain, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia. The most productive decade was 1990-1999. The most frequently studied species are rats, humans, and pigeons. The most investigated learning processes were stimulus discrimination, aversive instrumental conditioning, classical conditioning, and appetitive instrumental conditioning.
