Harassment and employment discrimination are two of the main problems of women in Latin America. In Ecuador, for example, there is one of the highest rates - only surpassed by Nicaragua- of women without their own income. In this article we have made some surveys oriented to rooted journalists in Quito, a strategic group may symbolically reflect the shortcomings of the Ecuadorian labor market. The results show some alarming figures: a five out of ten women journalists have been emphasized sexist jokes by male colleagues at work and almost the same percentage of respondents warned that at some time had been prevented from making any type of coverage by gender character. In this research we emphasize a neglect of decades in implementing employment equity, calling into question how they can contribute to some journalistic organizations to propose solutions to violence, if from their internal exercise there is a high level of gender inequality expressed structurally.
