Dr. Carolina Firacative is a biologist from Universidad Nacional de Colombia with more than 15 years of experience in microbiology. She began her work in bacteriology and medical mycology at the Microbiology Group of the National Institute of Health in Bogota, Colombia. In 2010, she joined the University of Sydney, Australia, where she completed her PhD in medicine, with studies in molecular and genetic epidemiology of various human fungal pathogens. In 2015, she joined the University of Leipzig, Germany, with a fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for a postdoctoral stay, working with immunoproteomics of cryptococcosis. In 2018, she joined the MICROS Group of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Universidad del Rosario, , where she participates in several projects aimed at understanding different aspects of mycoses of importance in Public Health. Currently she has 37 scientific publications in indexed journals and 2 book chapters on topics related to human mycosis.
