This paper present the results of the evaluation of mechanical behavior of magnesium alloywelded joints AZ31B using stirring-friction agitation welding (SFA) and GTAW, to the assessment of the tensile strength and microhardness of welded joints, made an analysis of explanatory type of correlation with changes in microstructure, grain sizes present in different zones, and quality defects, further fractographic analysis was performed to determine the cause of failure in welded specimens and tested. The results showed a higher tensile strength of welded joints for GTAW, compared with SFA joins.
