Pharmaceutical Chemist and Doctor in Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor and research leader at Universidad Icesi, with extensive experience in phytochemistry, complex mixture analysis, and biomass valorization within bioeconomy-driven frameworks. His work focuses on the advanced study of plant specialized metabolites, integrating ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry, advanced chromatography, and omics-based tools for the discovery and characterization of bioactive ingredients. He has led high-impact applied research projects aimed at transforming Colombian biodiversity into transferable products, processes, and technologies with applications in health, animal nutrition, and sustainable bioproducts. With more than 15 years of experience in applied research, graduate training, and academia–industry collaboration, he is a co-developer of licensed technologies and a technology-based spin-off, and an active contributor to national and international innovation, technology transfer, and bioeconomy initiatives.
