Alexandra Catano-Lopez is a Research Assistant of the Mathematical Sciences Department, in Universidad Eafit, Medellín (Colombia). She is a biologist (2017) and M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics (2019) at the same institution. She is a member of the Mathematical Modeling team in Universidad Eafit and her research project is about parameter estimation of dengue transmission models, focused on outbreaks occurred in different municipalities in Colombia. Her research interests are population ecology, epidemiology, and mathematical modeling; she has experience in tropical diseases research. She did an internship in Gottdenker lab, in UGA (US), processing data and samples of tropical diseases as Chagas and Leishmania, for affected localities in Panamá. She worked with Biología y Control de Enfermedades Infecciosas (BCEI) team performing mosquitoes life tables and estimating vectorial capacity for Bello (Colombia).
